Part of the Disasters of War series from the set of plates Famine. Although the name disaters of war is not Goya's own he had titled them Fatal consequences of Spain's bloody war with Bonaparte, and other emphatic caprices.

Other paintings in the series are:
Mournful foreboding of whats to Come
The Same
What Courage!
What More Can one Do?
Here Neither
This is Worse
The Worst is to Beg
Cartloads to the Cemetery
Nothing the Event Will Tell
May the Rope Break
Truth Has Died
Will She Rise Again
It Will Be the Same
